What you’ll do
Work both independently and as part of the SGD team to create accessible, high-quality science graphics for a variety of clients, including figures for scientific publications and grant applications, graphical abstracts, infographics, branding packages, PPT presentations, report layouts, etc.
Manage simultaneous projects, and ensure that all projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
Translate scientific concepts into clear, engaging visuals with minimal oversight.
Communicate with clients over email and online calls to ensure their graphics requirements are met
Essential requirements
A scientific degree in any discipline (Life and Environmental Sciences preferred, but not required), BSc or higher
1–3 years of professional experience as a science illustrator or scientific graphic designer
Experience working with academics or research institutions
A strong portfolio showcasing work in scientific illustration or data visualization
Ability to use specialised design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer) and data visualisation software (e.g. ggplot).
Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple projects
Excellent attention to detail and visual clarity
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
